Minitab 19 user review

주석: I've used Minitab all the way from version 15 to 19 for in-depth statistical data analysis and I have yet to be disappointed.

장점:

An entire handbook of Statistics is built into its highly underrated Help menu

단점:

Nothing really! When will Minitab 20 be released?

Best user friendly statistical software out there

주석: Overall, cannot complain too much about the application. Despite a few items I do not like personally, it's still the best stat software out there.

장점:

Minitab is the easiest to learn and has a very good online documentation. It's super useful for my 6-sigma course. Has a one-click distribution analysis that helps deciding what capability study one should use.

단점:

I do not like how data panel and the visualization panel are arranged. If there's any visual, it takes a good chink of the screen and hides most of the data.

Good Standalone

주석: If you need a statistical software that stands alone from any other system. Minitab is viable option. But, if you need it to tie to other systems to be feed the data, don't go this route. You can import data manually and copy manually, but that is it. This works the same way on export. So in other words, it is like a fancy calculator that you have sitting on your desk.
Over the years they have improved their navigation thru their menus, and added some functionality to it, but still lacks to other software packages.
If you have two or more systems that you use regularly (e.g. Virtual machine and Desktop Workstation), your license only supports one system. If you need it on both, you have to purchase a separate license. Even Autodesk has figured this out to not be a very viable option for their customers.
Be cautious about their training packages. You are not allowed to purchase a course, but only an allotted time for a course. So like most work environments, work can take priority over completing a course. So, if you do not complete it in time, you miss out.
It was a good statistical software back in their early years, but never kept up with technology and demand of the customers. And, it still has its old ghost that never were worked out of the system.
I don't suggest using this. Go with some other system that someone suggests highly, that meets the demands of this age, not an age gone past.

Minitab, the best tool for quality management

주석: I used minitab to run time series plots, charts and control charts, as well as Pareto charts, fish bone charts.
I really felt like a Black Belt using this tool, all the quality data was presented to the upper management using minitab.

I remember using this software at college, on my quality control and Quality management classes. 6 years before, I was working as a Quality chief on a roofing company and got the chance to purchase it for problem solving, advanced data analysis and charting tasks for Six Sigma. I loved it, I really liked how it can handle a large array of statistical analysis. I also liked the tutorials that came with the software, they were very easy to understand.

단점:

Nothing! I would recommend it without hesitation!

Powerful to a Fault

장점:

MiniTab is incredible... it flattens a decade worth of Lean Six Sigma Black Belt practice into a one-stop-shop calculator tool. If you're like me, then you've built hundreds of Excel tools from first-principles... which means your transition into Minitab should be fairly easy. As long as you take this product seriously, you'll be fine... but it's not meant for casual users.

단점:

Even understanding first principles of numerical management, this product can be a little disorienting at first. It's like a swiss army knife with a thousand tools... you're never quite sure where to find what you need. While the product integrates well with Excel, it can be easy to make a mistake in the way your data is formatted before entering. If you're working with someone who isn't at the LSSBB level, they literally won't understand anything about this product.

The best tool for statistical analysis and graphical representation of data.

주석: Easy analysis, amazing graphing. The best tool for statistical analysis.

The software is easy to use, but also provides plenty of support/help resources. Provides the widest array of statistical analysis tools. The graphical outputs are amazing. I am able to constantly wow executive leadership with Minitab's control charts and other diagrams.

단점:

Although many options are available for individual users that make costs effective, justifying the cost of the software to my organization has been challenging.

Great product for analyzing design of experiments data and smaller datasets

장점:

I love the intuitive user-interface and how similar it is to Excel. It gets the job done.

단점:

Minitab is expensive. Also, it is not expandable and customizable. like R or SAS

Excellent program to manage databases

주석: I was able to learn how to manage databases and analyze them statistically

장점:

It is a program where basic statistics analysis and multivariate methods can be done, it has a wide range of options to analyze qualitative and quantitative variables

단점:

The versions of the program should be updated constantly to be on par with other programs and the function of exporting databases should be a little easier

Essential tool for 6-Sigma projects

주석: We are using this tool as a statistical data solver. You can understand the problem's inputs and effects. Weibull distrubition is the easy way to understand most cases behaviour.

장점:

I've been using this program since got the 6-Sigma green belt certificate. Best assistant to work through statistical study.

단점:

Program can be develop the some tools as an user friendly. Visual appearance is important for new-users.

Smart Data Analysis, REALLY.

Minitab 18 statistical software is a great tool that can be used by different companies, colleges and universities. I started using Minitab 18 when our team needed our data analyzed, we have tried different software but Minitab has come through. The Assistant feature of the software is of great help so far, especially when facing a dilemma between two choices, the feature assists in choosing the necessary step to complete your analytical dashboard or processing. It is very easy to learn as well, being that the assistant can walk you through your first task. User-friendly.

단점:

Minitab is a bit on the pricier range when it comes to tools of the caliber.

It simplifies and ensures correct statistical analyses on massive datasets.

주석: Minitab worked efficiently to simplify the statistical analysis processes, especially when dealing with large amounts of data, and this was reflected in the smoothness of our procedures, as we can conduct various analyzes, ensure the progress of operations, and achieve sufficient understanding of the results in a faster time.

Minitab makes organizing data for various statistical operations extremely easy. Minitab brings together all the tools that we need to perform multiple statistical operations such as capacity analysis, regression analysis, and other complex operations in an organized manner, and Minitab makes preparing tables and graphs of the results very simple. It's great that Minitab, with its effective tools, enables us to automate statistical analysis processes, so that we don't find any complications in dealing with big data, and enables us to quickly extract accurate results.

단점:

Nothing to worry about, as Minitab has an intuitive interface that is easy to use, which is not available in competing programs. It is necessary to know the statistics before starting to use, also you should spend an appropriate amount of time to learn how the tools work properly.

One of the most comprehensive statistical analysis tools

주석: I think Minitab is really good for people who want to do research or work on projects in manufacturing processes. It's been useful in my research projects, like improving manufacturing techniques. It helps me get results, and figure out important factors from the experiments I do. I highly recommend it.

We put all the data from different parts of our company into Minitab. This helps us figure out new things and make changes. The best parts of Minitab are:It's easy to put data in quickly. We can make tables and graphs to organize the information.Minitab can predict things based on the data we put in. It looks at old and new data to see if things are getting better or worse.It's easy to use. We can put things where we want them.We can work together with our coworkers. Minitab lets us look at lots of data together in real-time.

단점:

Minitab costs a lot and learning to use Minitab is not easy indeed.

This is an excellent product for statistical-based analysis.

장점:

What I like most about this product is all of the functionalities available for performing statistical analysis on both real-world data and theoretical studies. The built-in functions and graphs are absolutely excellent and save a lot of time by automatically doing computations on data sets that would otherwise require additional software for computation. It is very easy to input the data and then have so many different options for essentially "auto-analyzing" the data through the large variety of statistic tools made available with this program. I am yet to hear of another program geared to this level with statistical analysis tools.

단점:

What I like least about this software is the way that some of the graphs are generated. Sometimes graphs with many data points may come out very messy and crowded and I feel that steps could be taken to improve the aesthetics of such graphs as essentially the point of graphs is to allow the reader to have a good visual with the behavior of the data or whatever it might be which is being presented on the graph. As such, I feel that better aesthetics are critical for communicating this information.

Analyse the data with Minitab easily.

주석: It is actually a reliable statistical package I have ever used. I can remember how I learnt Minitab lessons eagerly during my undergraduate period and how I recalled them and analyzed thousands of my research data.

장점:

During the four years of my university life, among all the other statistical softwares Minitab is the easiest and versatile statistical package I have ever used. Specially it is very affordable package for academics and requires less disk space as well as can be easily installed. It provides a comprehensive set of statistical features including; Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), Hypothesis tests, Design of Experiments, Graphical analysis, Descriptive statistics, Correlation and Regression and etc. to perform wide variety of statistical analysis easily rather than using statistiacal codes in SAS. When I am reading research papers I have experienced that many researchers use the latest version of Minitab to the analysis of their research data. Even for my undergraduate research I used Minitab for the analysis.

단점:

Actually I haven't experienced any kind of issue while I am performing Minitab yet.

The Graph Function in Minitab is helpful

장점:

The Graph Tab in Minitab is straight forward. I usually use scatterplot and histogram functions at the beginning of my analysis in order to capture the distribution of my data. Probability Plot and Probability Distribution plot are also helpful when you are looking for parametric distribution functions to fit the data. You can also overlap two distributions in one plot for comparison.

단점:

The graphs plotted by Minitab are generally clear. However, I hope they will be more aesthetic, such as the styles of labels, coordinates, and ticks. Also, I hope we can overlap more curves on one graph in order to highlight the differences between datasets.

Use for day to day data analysis

주석: It really helps me to expedite my daily office work without errors.

장점:

Any person who does not have a statistical background can easily use this software for data analysis purposes like simple mean, median, mode, standard deviation to complex analysis like anova, t-test, the correlation coefficient, and principle component analysis.

단점:

When compare with Microsoft excel data feeding and editing (copy, paste) is difficult.

An Effective Statistical Analysis Software

주석: Overall, Minitab is a great statistical tool for complicated and big data analysis. The graphs and charts are visually appealing. There are a lot of analysis you can make and base your decisions on. It's a bit pricey but I think it's worth it for long time use.

The data visualization is beyond amazing. It is color-coded and in 3D. Regression analysis is included in the data analysis so it is easier to sort variables. There are a lot of statistical analysis available so this application is great for analyzing big and complicated data.

단점:

The price is a bit high and licensing is difficult. When purchased for corporate use, you need to connect to the company's VPN in order to use it. You can't use it offline.

Minitab for six sigma

주석: I'm using minitab for virtual DOE in six sigma projects and also in improve phase in optimalization

장점:

The most I like in the Minitab software is the assistant and a lot of blog and help files. I use it for six sigma projects including DMAIC or DFSS.

단점:

In old revision help files were difficult

MiniTab is good

주석: I used MiniTab for statistical analysis of my experiments during my MS and PhD. It was very easy to use and got my job done!

장점:

MiniTab 19 is very easy to use and does not require an experienced user (unlike JMP and SAS). As a first time user, I found it very helpful in doing all the statistical analyses that I needed.

단점:

Although it is really really easy to use, it is not as extensive as JMP and SAS. Once I was adept with MiniTab, I found that JMP and SAS offered more options like design of experiments, not available in MiniTab

What a wonderful data analytical tool

장점:

With the tool you are able to handle any statistical assignment from data entry to data analysis to data visualision. Its easy to use and does not need an expert handle any assignment.

단점:

The tool is exeptional and gives the value for money.

Great Tool

Its a nice tool for statisticians can import the data easily from excel and with in few clicks we can generate the graphs and can easily demonstrate them

단점:

it would be better if they give more examples often we have to go to youtube to search for videos. The help library should have been made user friendly

Student Engineering Projects

주석: I have used this product multiple times for student projects. The process to analyze data in the software is simple, and ready for presentation. Would highly recommend for use as a primary statistical analysis software!

Minitab has incredible ease of use! Any project that incorporates charts is a simple 2 minute process in Minitab. It also has simple means of exporting the charts to whatever presentation or report vehicle utilized for a project.

단점:

If you have not had ample statistical analysis experience, or statistical basics, this program could definitely seem overwhelming for all it has to offer and what you can customize on an analysis.

Solid statistical software with a large amount of useful features.

Ease of use. Wide range of statistic tools to help portray the data that I want, in the way I want to do it.

단점:

A lot of the learning of how to use the software is trial by fire. Not all the features are perfectly lined out in the beginning.

Excellent analysis tool

주석: I started using Minitab when I did a Green Belt training, and since then I always use it. It has helped me a lot in the tasks of the month, finding solutions to old problems. It is an incredible tool for anyone who wants to put things in order.

The tool is very simple and intuitive to use. For those who use the 6 Sigma methodology it is essential. The reports issued are complete, with all necessary information. Customer support is very good, as they respond very quickly and answer any questions.

단점:

Despite being relatively simple to use, it has many functions, and it takes the user a long time to fully master this software. Some aspects related to the visuals of the graphics could be improved, but it is not a problem.
