FlexSim user review

주석: Using the process simulation that was created a few weeks ago, it became abundantly clear in a quantitative manner how much of an impact each factor has on the process outcome. Changing one or more factors and re-running the simulation is child's play using FlexSim.

장점:

Words fail me when I attempt to tell my colleagues at work how astoundingly simple this software is! I have never created a process simulation of any complexity before and I created a moderately complex process simulation using live process data in FlexSim in less than 45 minutes. This software is positively brilliant!

단점:

Some less capable individuals do snicker a bit when they see the manual movements on screen during a simulation. Perhaps that can be made to look a bit more modern-looking? Still, no complaints from simulation nerds like me!

FlexSim Healthcare

Ease of use, the simulation quality is exceptional. the data that can be pulled is very valuable to clients.

단점:

Can be hard to extrapolate the data. Sometimes the analytics can be complicated for the novice.

My grad student was working on a hospital project using FlexsimHC.

주석: Animation feature of the software was a good help when making presentations to healthcare professionals who don't know much about computer simulation.

The animation features and functionality of FlexsimHC were very helpful for the project that we needed to test different scenarios for capacity analysis and scheduling of key resources.

단점:

My grad student was creating a simulation model for a med/surg unit using FlexsimHC. There were some hidden bugs causing the problems of simulation runs and the tech support was not able to help fix...

Cool Visuals But Not Sure on Implementation

주석: My overall experience with FlexSim has been basically of uncertainty with it being a new software that I do not find easy to use and has not been implemented with my company. The training was disappointing as there were technical issues and we “hit the ground sprinting” from my experience of not knowing how to start a new project and then too large of a group to get the specialized assistance needed.

장점:

What I liked most about this software was what I saw in a presentation that was able to simulate a logistics warehouse and was very helpful and informative for future clients to see actual 3D modeling showing more than be stated just in words.

단점:

What I liked least about this software was that the training seemed to not be directed at my industry as the first few days were very random and there was not a good introduction on how to use the software from a very basic understanding.

FlexSim - A powerful improvement tool

주석: I have used FlexSim to model several systems over the past 18 years: multiple distribution centers; a restaurant kitchen operation; a rail yard; a harvesting operation and several large manufacturing operations in several industries. As a professional I have honed my simulation modeling skills over the years and FlexSim has been part of that growth through their excellent technical support and continuous improvement and expansion of the FlexSim software.

장점:

In my profession, it is important that a simulation package is flexible enough to apply to many types of systems, powerful enough handle very large and complex operations if necessary, and user-friendly so that projects can be completed efficiently and at the lowest cost possible. FlexSim hits high marks in all of these areas. As a past user of other simulation software packages, I can say that Flexsim has been an outstanding software package to use and has continued to grow in value for me over the past 18 years. In addition, I have found the customer service/technical support from Flexsim to be exceptional.

단점:

I don't have any real "cons" at this time. I tend to push FlexSim to its limits with the applications that I try to model. At this time, the biggest issue that I am having is working with cranes (limited ability to handle multiple cranes on a single rail, for example). With that said, the technical support group works with me to develop work-arounds for handle current FlexSim limitations at they occur.

FlexSim and ease of use

주석: I only used FlexSim for teaching and I had a pleasant experience with it. I think FlexSim HC needs improvement. FlexSim added a lot of value to the course I was teaching. I would recommend making FlexSim and FlexSim HC training to academicians available for free even if the training are in other states. For instance, I was invited to a 3-day workshop of AnyLogistix software for free in IL state and I just needed to take care of my traveling expenses. This could help us to learning FlexSim and FlexSim HC much better and provide feedback on them.

I liked its' ease of use overall. There is a lot of great features that are easy to use and follow in the 3D environment. Support is very strong to use the software. We used FlexSim HC for the first time this year. It has strong features that need some maturity though. It is particularly very good for teaching.

단점:

I think the updates need to be progressing rapidly rather than making dramatic changes. It is very important to keep the compatibility with the prior updates of FlexSim. One of the issues I faced with FlexSim HC was the entries in particular property areas. For instance, I was entering percentages and locations in several property areas for patients to travel however these entries were disappearing later on. I tried this many times both on Surface Pro 4 tablet and my Lenovo laptop, neither one kept the information in the cells. I think this is a major issue particularly when you teach the software. I also believe more educational videos make the software look better since there can be a lot of issues that users might face and these educational videos can help them. FlexSim has this nice support feature.

Excellent in the healthcare environment

주석: I was able to use FlexSim to solve four scenarios in clinical environments.
The first successful project illustrated that changing a clinical process flow revealed improvements in patient outcomes and safety in a Labor & Delivery Department.
In another major project, building models in FlexSim in a future environment create opportunities for nurse managers to solve clinical work flows before opening the Miami Cancer Institute. Specifically we modeled Chemotherapy, Radiation Oncology, and the Laboratory.
We built models for an outpatient rehabilitation office that revealed the bottleneck occurred at the front desk with insurance verification time.
Our model of West Kendall Baptist Hospital imaging was used to justify hiring separate transporters because the model clearly showed that moving patients from the Emergency Department to imaging was the cause of higher than acceptable turn-around-times.
All-in-all, the FlexSim software provided a platform that was useful for management's effort to improve patient safety and performance.

FlexSim allows the user to create meaningful patient movement studies when the model is built on a solid foundation of a process flow. Developing an accurate process flow in addition to having accurate time/movement data contributed to building models that represented the real world environment.

단점:

The learning curve was a little steep, but to be fair, my style of learning, which relies on hands on repetition, helped make the software a little difficult to learn. Several of my colleagues were able to learn the software quicker than me.

Quick to build model and easy error handling

주석: I am quite happy as an user.

장점:

It has fantastic 3D visualization. It is rather simple to build models and study the what-if analysis.

단점:

I do not quite like the process flow potion of the modeling. I wish we could do the whole model development on the object portion of the software.

A perfect example of OOD design

장점:

I like the way FlexSim models the world. The concepts of flow items, fixed resources, transporters are perfect abstract of massive real-world use cases. FlexSim has rich pre-built library that can meet most customers' requirements and users don't need to master programming in order to master FlexSim. More than this, FlexSim is so extensible with FlexScript and c++ so can literally build anything with the building blocks provided by FlexSim and your creativity. Not mention that their customer service is excellent, any questions post on their forum will be taken care of by their engineers within a short time.

단점:

FlexSim only supports Window but I use a Mac computer so I have to install a virtual machine locally to use FlexSim. It would be wonderful if they provide dock image/mac version/web based application.

FlexSim Industrial Design Project

주석: Completed an 8 month long design project for a customer. We were provided the full license for the period by FlexSim. Solved real world manufacturing problems and optimized.

You can build and simulate almost anything. Optimization option. Tester option.

단점:

Some errors with the tester. The instruction manual could be designed better.

FlexSim is a great option for event based simulation

주석: We use FlexSim for goods and process plant logistics as well as clinical people based logistics combined with goods flows.

장점:

FlexSim has been putting in a great development effort over the past few years and it really shows. New features such as Process Flow visual programming, and Statistics Collectors for data and result handling make models far easier and quicker to set up, and a lot of the new content means that FlexSim can be used for more different types of modelling fields with less effort. As the name implies FlexSim really does offer great flexibility in range of application. I especially look forward to exploring the new People Modul content in FlexSim 19.1 which should help make people based simulations even easier.

단점:

The deep level of customization and the sheer number of features that gives FlexSim its flexibility, can at times seem overwhelming and make the learning curve a bit steep. Though the interface is quite intuitive the fact that you can do the same thing in may different ways, sometimes has you wondering if you are making something harder than it has to be or if you have missed another features somewhere.

Poweful yet easy to build complex simulation models

주석: Flexsim has enabled to model large scale material handling projects and quickly identify bottlenecks in the system and generate valuable data for diving deep. The overall experience has been great !!

Easy to build large scale models, programming using process flow makes it easy implement logic quickly, data collection is straightforward.

단점:

Flexsim does not have physics engine so it is difficult to model bulk flow.

Nice Process Simulation Software Tool for Healthcare system

주석: I have been using FlexSim for 3 years and impressed with the progress of their development team that kept coming up with new features that make the software getting better. We got a number of compliments from the project team when we use FlexSim to show and discuss our concept to drive the process improvements.

FlexSim software provides very nice 3D animation that can be presented to non-software technical stakeholders (e.g. the clinical staff and physicians). The time to develop the model is not too long. The software also give you the flexibility to customized the model in the way you like. Dashboard function is very good. Customer Support is excellent with quick turnaround time. The actually help you build and debug the model if you reach out for support. Price is good comparing to the competitors.

단점:

It take time for new employee to learn about the software. Debugging is not very easy for new user too.

best simulation software ever !

주석: I'm working in batch process production where each type of product van run on each line, main use of Flexsim is to get the optimum sequence for each line to run maximum performance. secondly, we use flexsim to optimise and calculate the logistics of the products in and out the production.

장점:

the different ways of designing a scenario, in combination with the variables and inputs are just great. you have the typical drag and drop, then the flow chart and even code for the super special stuff. and best of all… these can be combined !

단점:

some features like a textbox to set how many scenario's are not direct available, but these are solved by the local helpdesk how sent me a script to do that.

Great software big learning curve

장점:

I appreciate all the functionality that FlexSim offers. You can do basically any thing you could possibly need in regard to simulation building. The customer support is excellent as well if you run into issues.

단점:

This software takes a long time to fully comprehend since it's so powerful. I have been using FlexSim for about 6 months now and still feel like i'm scraping the surface with all there is to do with the software.

Flex Sim Manufacturing Use Review

주석: Training was good but that was basic I recommend at least attending multiple days and classes and having a consultant do some one on one training in order to fully take advantage of the software.

장점:

It really can do almost anything if you really put the time and effort in learning code and changing things. Its a very powerful tool that can help predict trends and make models of things. Graphics is hard to change but with time and experience you'll get the hang of it.

단점:

It's hard to learn things on flex sim. the support is hard because they have millions of ways to do just one thing so a lot of times people use short cuts that you've never learned or don't know how to do it and they'll do it that way. Making list and process mode is hard to learn unless you work a lot with it.

My feedback o Flexsim

주석: I have always been bad at software and for the first time I feel I can model something with ease. The tech support is great. Our reps are super helpful I talk to them very regularly and they clarify a lot of questions that make users learn a lot. Correcting a few bugs like conveyor bugs might be helpful because sometimes we end up rebuilding the model because we cannot tell whats going on.

Principal Lecturer

주석: As a member of HE I have found the software extremely useful for teaching DES to 1st, 2nd and 3rd year students. The software is easy to get to grips with and the students really enjoy using it.

단점:

The library of 3D models, it may help if there was multiply 3D models for a given library feature ie 3 or 4 processor 3D models. Possible need more walk through tutorials ie on financial side of dashboards

Great support team and software

장점:

The software is very intuitive and scalable to big simulations. The 3d representation and the easy to import 3d shapes creates a very interesring representation that increases credibility of the simulation. The fact that you can run the simulations on any computer without license is great for vustomer presentations. The trainings and community that are available are very useful. But all of this is even improved for the reseller support team always answering very fast to the questions.

단점:

I will promote more training material free. I miss an included interface with autocad for importing points and automatically create layouts of conveyors or agv networks.

Great tool for design

주석: Great tool and wonderful people to work with.

Ability to quickly identify areas of concern in models and supportive/engaged consulting group.

단점:

Training at corporate office does not match quality of product.

Great for visualization & data-driven decisions

I like the ability to use healthcare visuals & ready to use objects.

단점:

I work in a pediatric hospital & in order to accurately simulate the patient experience, I had to do some extra coding to get the parent & child to split during a visit. It would be nice to make that simpler to do.

Use of Flexsim for Academic Projects

주석: The 3D graphic and east of use can allow quick start of projects from concept into reality.

Its east of starting, without complicated programming. Also the 3D features are very attractive for seniors to accept the project.

단점:

Not much, be frank, what I ask has included. The challenge is on the conversion of the real cases into model, which it not related to the software.

An easy and practical tool

주석: FlexSim is interesting compared to other tools because it is easy to use especially for Busines School students (non-engineers). Students appreciate a lot to simulate diffirent types of problems (production, transport, supply chain, ...). I recommend this software.

FlexSim is very easy to use. The visual is very interesting with the 3D but also the posibility of RV.

단점:

Lack of detailed training support with logical progression.
